Analytical Prediction of the Fire Rating of Concrete Masonry Walls Using Finite Element Analysis

Coauthored by Charles Furtaw, PE and Garland E. Borowski, PE, this paper describes a process for determining the fire rating of block walls when filled with various cores. The intent is to assist commercial builders with material selection for particular fire ratings without requiring a test for each application.
